Black Tie & Tails Celebrates 15 Years of Success for Friends For the Dearborn Animal Shelter

On Friday, October 24, over 250 well-dressed supporters helped celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Friends For the Dearborn Animal Shelter in full carnevale style. Proceeds of the gala evening totaled nearly $100,000, with all funds going to help support day-to-day shelter operations, and community- and animal-related programs.

Black Tie Highlights

Friends Big Heart Award:

Mary Ann Wright was honored with the Friends’ Big Heart Award, which is given to a supporter who exemplifies support of humane animal treatment and dedication to furthering the cause of animal welfare.

Mary Ann was presented with an original art work created by PupCatso (dogs using their tails and cats using their paw prints from the Dearborn Animal Shelter)

Paws Promenade featuring adoptable animals from the Dearborn Animal Shelter, each of whom was accompanied along the “red carpet” by a special Black Tie sponsor.

Ø    Leading the promenade were Black Tie honorary co-chairs Detroit Lions quarterback Drew Stanton and fiancée Kristin Schrock, who escorted Diesel. Diesel is a Labrador Retriever mix who was brought to the shelter when his owner was called to service in Iraq.
