Friends Lose a Friend - Pat Wagner
Pat Wagner was a
lifelong animal advocate, working closely with the nonprofit group that
championed the Trenton shelter (HEADS). Her group appealed to citizens
door-to-door, presented the city council with the citizens’ appeal, and was
instrumental in getting the new Trenton/Woodhaven facility built.
Even after Pat was diagnosed with cancer in early 2007, she continued her animal advocacy. One of her projects included working to ensure that local fire departments were equipped with special oxygen masks to save pet lives during emergency calls.
A retired principal and teacher, Pat was a feisty lady, who always put animals first. In her obituary, it reads, “she leaves behind her cherished dog, Ian (shown in the photo), and a host of loving friends.” We are blessed to say that Pat was among one of our best friends. As a Circle of Friends member, Pat asked that an endowment be created for the Friends For the Dearborn Animal Shelter honoring her late mother, Violette Geiger, and late husband Fred Wagner.
