Gory and Castro assisted a shelter board member last week as she tried to rescue a stray Beagle near Rotunda drive. After the Beagle fled the area, the young men found the dog on Outer drive where it had become a victim of a hit and run. “These two young men amazed me,” said Phyllis Moore, the vice president of the Friends For the Dearborn Animal Shelter Board of Directors. “Not only did they stop to help me, but when they found the dog hurt in the street, they did not hesitate to try and help this critically injured animal.” The two rushed the animal to the clinic, however, due to complications, the animal did not survive.
“It was wonderful to meet two young men with the compassion and commitment that Nick and Shaun exhibited. The Friends For the Dearborn Animal Shelter hope that our small token of appreciation will demonstrate how much their outstanding act of kindness means to the community and to the animals that call it home,” said Ms. Moore.
