Overall Objective: Raise $5 million in capital and $1 million in endowments in order to 
                          break ground for the new Shelter in the spring of 2006.  

Phase I:  April 2004 – April 2005, “Quiet Phase”, Before the Public Announcement
                          (Achieve at least 50% of goal by 12/04, 70% - 80% by 5/05)

      2004:

  • April - June

    • Established infrastructure – committees, marketing materials, letters of recommendation, grant boilerplate, financials, Stray Cat Strut Planning

    • Determined sponsorship levels and prospects

    • Confirmed architect requirements

  • June – December

    • Initiate donor cultivation and solicitation

    • Initiate Grant applications and follow-up

    • Advisory Board meeting (October)

    • Stray Cat Strut – design, mold, artists, and sponsors

    • Building – Pre-design Planning (November 2004 – April 2005) and Ecological Site Planning (November 2004 – June 2005)

       2005:

  • January – April:

    • Continue donor cultivation and solicitation

    • Continue grant processes

    • Stray Cat Strut – cats completed and mounted

    • Advisory Board event (April)

    • Building – Professional Consultation (January – April) and Architectural Consultation (initiate in January), Energy Analysis and Modeling and Material Analysis (March - September)

 

Second Phase: May 2005 – April 2006, General Public Solicitation
                         (Achieve at least 95% of goal by 12/05)

  • May:

    • Stray Cat Strut – Launch Memorial Day Parade 2005 (cats back and mounted on bases with placques)

    • Announcement of  Public Campaign using Stray Cat Strut in Dearborn Memorial Day Parade

    • Initiate special gifts campaign

  • June – September:

    • Stray Cat Strut – Cats on display at Sponsors for Dearborn’s Art on the Avenue. Cats travel to prearranged placement for further media coverage and public awareness.  Suggestions/thoughts:  Greenfield Village, HFC Library, Ford World Headquarters, Fairlane Town Center, HFCC  

    • Continue donor cultivation and solicitations

    • Continue grant processes

    • Building - contractor evaulation, furnishings selection

 

  • October – December:

    • Stray Cat Strut – Auction event (October)

    • Announcement (October) and sale of community participation opportunities

    • Continue donor cultivation and solicitations

    • Continue grant processes

2006:

  • January – March

    • Continue donor cultivation and solicitations

    • Continue grant processes

     

Third Phase:  April – December 2006, Community Gifts, Cleanup, Construction (8 months)

  • April - December

    • Ground breaking celebration (April)

    • Initiate construction

    • Continue grant processes

    • Continue donor cultivation and solicitations

    • Complete construction (December)

Fourth Phase:  January 2007, Move In !  

  • Grand Opening Reception and Celebration

  • Continue grant processes

  • Continue donor cultivation and solicitations

  • Initiate new programs
