From puppies to mature adult dogs, we have a class to make living with your dog easier and more enjoyable!

The Friends For the Dearborn Animal Shelter are offering dog-friendly obedience training for puppies and adult "beginner" dogs, as well as advanced American Kennel Club's Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test prep. The instruction teaches loving, not harsh, training and results in a happier and safer dog / puppy which makes the whole family happier. Classes include written instructional hand-outs and homework "assignments" for: * potty-training * crate-training * sit * down * stay * come * leave it * and much more... You'll also learn how to use a clicker, although they're not mandatory. A 20% discount is offered for dogs adopted from the Dearborn Animal Shelter.

Puppy 101 -
For puppies between

Will learn basic commands - sit and down. Plus discussions on house &
crate training, biting/mouthing, chewing, socialization, and use of clickers.
Includes written instructions. Puppies must be up to date on age appropriate

Get your dog from good to great! Completion of an Intermediate or
second level training class is required for enrollment. Completion of this
course will result in a CGC and/or TDI certificate.

Agility
for Fun – For dogs
that have had Beginner Basics or other Beginner Class –

Have fun teaching your dog how to go through the tunnel and weave poles, go over
jumps and use the obstacles and other dogs as distractions for your dog. Come
learn how fun agility is! Dogs come first night of class. This is a 6 week
course - $125.00 ($100.00 for dogs adopted from the Dearborn Animal Shelter).

Reactive Rover - This course is specifically designed to teach handlers how
to manage and treat dogs that are aggressive to other dogs while on-leash. -

This class is not appropriate for dogs who only exhibit aggression toward other
dogs while off-leash, or who exhibit aggression toward people. The class meets
once a week and attendance at all classes is required. All family members are
encouraged to attend. This is a 6 week course - $125.00 ($100.00 for dogs
adopted from the Dearborn Animal Shelter). New classes begin on the dates below

Outdoor
Class-This class
works with the basics but we add the distraction of the great outdoors. -

Come practice sit, down, stay, walking on a loose leash and coming, where your
dog needs to know them. This class will be held rain or shine. No class if
lightening is seen. This is a 6 week course - $125.00 ($100.00 for dogs adopted
from the Dearborn Animal Shelter). New classes begin on the dates below and
continue on the same day of the week for 6 weeks. You must enroll and be
present for the first class.

Pit Ed
class- Classes
designed to help you and your pit bull or other bully breed learn how to be a
better team.

We will cover basic skills like sit, down, stay, walking on a loose leash,
responsible dog ownership, preventing fights and basic problem solving. This
course is limited to 4 dogs. This is a 6 week course - $100.00. New classes
begin on the dates below and continue on the same nights of the week for 6
weeks. You must enroll and be present for the first class.

This class is for kittens ages 8wks-16wks to socialize with feline and human friends, learning tricks (sit, come, shake hands) along with tips in kitty care. These classes are being scheduled. Linda will contact you with date information.
