Mutt Strut Update

Friday, May 8 - Start the festivities EARLY!  Bailey’s Bark-Out: On Friday, May 9, from 4:00 until 7:00, Baileys Pub & Grille in Dearborn will be hosting a Mutt Strut Bark-Out. They have internet access so stop in for a drink and a bite (free nibblies), and e-mail friends and family members to pledge you in the Mutt Strut. Not strutting? No problem. Folks can still support homeless animals by pledging directly to the Friends or to their favorite Detroit Lions player. After all, Bailey’s is the official Mutt Strut Detroit Lions headquarters.  As an extra gift to our eNews subscribers - bring a printed copy of this eNews to Bailey's Bark-Out for a special gift.  Share this message with a friend -- they too are invited and eligible for the free gift.

WYCD Supports Strutters: WYCD Detroit’s Country personality Jyl Forsyth will be at Mutt Strut from 12:00 until 2:00. She will be judging some of our contests and handing out WYCD goodies! An avid animal advocate, Jyl is collecting pledges on our Web site: www.dearbornmuttstrut.com. Check out her page!

Fur-Real Birthday Pawty: Adopted pets make the best pals, and what better way to celebrate than with a Purina Pets for People birthday “pawty” at the Mutt Strut Reunion Tent. Happenings:
§         Every hour group "alumni" photos of adoptees will be taken and posted at the event and on our Web site. We invite adopters to share their happy-tail adoption stories for posting as well.
§         Raffle drawings for birthday party gifts.
§         Show off your adopted dog's hidden talents by entering the Pet Trick Contest. The winner will receive a $100 gift certificate donated by Ron Burns Studio. Ron Burns is considered to be America’s Favorite Animal Artist and is the artist-in-residence for The Humane Society of the United States. Thank you Ron for all that you do!

Special Needs Pets Need Your Help

Adorable Adoptables Need You Every Day: Some of our pups will not be strutting on May 17. For example, 4-year-old Barry is a shy retriever with big eyes and may be too overwhelmed in a sea of dogs. And, of course, we can’t forget the kitties. Nadia has been at the shelter since August 2007. She is about 14 years old, but looks and acts much younger.  She does not like other cats, but is extremely affectionate with people and loves to give kitty kisses. You can visit Barry, Nadia, and all of our adorable adoptables online (www.dearborn-animals.com) AND at the shelter!  Remember -  we are open until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Doggie Manners

Several of our adoptable dogs who have been trained by Friends’ expert Linda Thomas will be strutting on May 17. You’ll be amazed by their doggie best behavior. If you want your pooch to become a Ms. or Mr. Manners, sign up for a Friends’ training class now!
