 Bellatine Giering

Jennifer Giering is president of the Dearborn Chamber.  Jennifer recently adopted Bella (formerly Blondie) from the shelter and is crazy about her.  You could say that Bella has Jennifer wrapped around her paw.

Bella and Jennifer  would like everyone to be as happily matched as they are and welcomes all to 'Meet Your Match' through the FDAS' version of e-Harmony to find your purr-fect BFF (Best Forever Furry-Friend).

 Cinna

In Elizabeth's Happy Tail submission, she tells us that the 2 year old kitty she adopted from the shelter in September of '08 named Sally Ann is doing well in her home in Dearborn and is now named Cinna.  Cinna likes to guard her food dish and beg (demand) for more.  Elizabeth also says that she seems to have a food insecurity issue and loves to jump at dangling string.

She started out a bit [feisty], probably [due] to her past experience.  She is independent and has adopted us as her family.  We have started measuring her food allowance.  We are delighted with Cinna.

This space is reserved for a photo of Cinna

 Buddy Gerbe

Hopefully, a photo of Buddy will go here

Buddy a 1 1/2 year old cat was named Arnold when Geraldine Gerbe of Dearborn Heights adopted him from the shelter on 9/11/08.  She says that Bubby likes to play with little pill cups and he plays catch.  Geraldine says, "He is a very loving cat and is sooo-smart".

Lola Robb

In Taylor, the Robb family added a new family member, an 11 month puppy named Lola [Lola Palooza at the shelter] on 9/12/08. Jaime Robb says that Lola likes going for walks, chewing stuffed animals and going to the park.

Lola is doing great in her new home and is loved by the whole family! She is finishing up training classes with the shelter and is doing well! We plan to get involved with agility classes.  Lola plays nicely with our cat Holly.  Lola is a great dog!

Buddy Whitfield

Jordan got a new family on 9/17/08, that took him home to Westland to live forever.  Jim Whitfield adopted the 7 month old gray kitten and renamed him Buddy.  Jim says buddy likes to play, play and more play especially with cable ties on the end of a rope.

At the end of the day he loves to curl up on your lap when we are watching T.V.  He is lovable and has brought much joy to our house.

Isabella Darragh

JoAnn Darragh and her family decided they needed a kitten and went to the shelter on September 20, 2008 and found Linda, a tabby and white 4 1/2 month old darling.  The Darragh family renamed her Isabella and took her to her new home in Dearborn.  Isabella's favorite things to do are: playing with her new brother Lucky and playing 'floor hockey' with balled up paper.

Isabella was timid when we brought her home.  She has adjusted very well and is very loving and playful.  She is really curious about her 2 new puppy "sisters".  We are sure they will be the best of friends soon.  Our family is so glad to have her, we love her so much.

No, she's not ferocious,

we just caught her mid yawn.

Missy S.

November of '08, it was so very nice to get a letter from Missy about her new home:

Oh Hai!  Remember me?  I used to be called Lenette and came to you nice people in May with a litter of babies.

I stayed with you until early October, in that upper left cage.  Then some people came looking for a cat just like me, so they adopted me.

I'm very busy these days - I have lots of toys I have to chase around, a big dumb oriental cat I have to keep in line [and] two people that I allow to scratch me when we watch TV by the fireplace in the evening.

I've already gone to someplace they call "UpNorth" twice, and then I have to chase more toys there.

I thought you'd like to know that I've gained weight, my coat is very shiny, and I don't smell like dog.

I asked my new people to send some money to help the cats who weren't as lucky.

Love, Missy

Hannah Moylan

16 month old Pandi was a lucky kitty when Julie and Tom Moylan came to the shelter on 11/15/08.  They adopted her and took her to their home in Troy to begin her new life with a new name, Hannah. Julie and Tom tell us that Hannah likes to walk along the window sills to watch the birds or "catch a sunbeam".  They tell us what a character Hannah is:

She scoops out wet food from her bowl onto her paws and licks her paws clean.  She does this when she can't get any more food out by licking.  When playing she twists and jumps straight up in the air, and makes all kinds of chortles and noises, like R2D2 from Star Wars!

Olive Oyl and Betty Boop Dudgeon

A photos of Olive Oyl and Betty Boop belong right here

Laura Dudgeon of Dearborn adopted a 16 week old kitten named Cassie and a 12 year old cat named Snapple from the shelter on 11/26/08 and changed their names to Olive Oyl and Betty Boop .

Laura tells us that Olive Oyl's favorite thing to do is hide and Betty Boop gets into everything.
